What are dentures?

Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth. Full dentures attach directly to the gums via suction and a special adhesive for improved security. Partial dentures feature stainless steel clasps that attach to a few of your remaining natural teeth. Dentures are designed to look as realistic as possible, and function as well as a full set of healthy, natural teeth.

How are dentures fitted?

First, Dr Amin will take an impression of your teeth and gums. We send the impressions to our laboratory. At the lab the certified technicians manufacture a custom set of full or partial dentures tailored to the shape of your mouth and gums. Before fitting a custom full denture, Dr Amin may need to extract any remaining teeth. This is done under a local anaesthetic and, in most cases, he can fit your new denture during your next visit.

However, as your gums heal following your extractions, they may change shape. If that happens, your dentures may need to be realigned for the best fit. If you are getting a partial denture, no extraction is necessary, and your dentures can be fitted immediately. Dentures can improve your ability to speak and chew, restore your natural facial volume and enhance your smile.
